❓“Did You Know?” with Zuber Lawler💡

💡#DidYouKnow?

In a significant move for the digital asset space, the U.S. Treasury and IRS have enacted updated regulations requiring centralized crypto exchanges and custodial wallet providers to report any digital asset transactions exceeding $10,000. This step aims to increase transparency and ensure compliance in the rapidly growing crypto market.

🧵 The new guidelines apply to a broad spectrum of crypto transactions, including both crypto-to-fiat and crypto-to-crypto exchanges. Platforms must now file Form 1099-DA with the IRS for qualifying transactions, expanding oversight and ensuring that all reportable activities are tracked for tax purposes. 🧐

🧵 For crypto exchanges, wallet providers, and other digital asset participants, these updates underscore the need for robust compliance frameworks. Understanding and meeting these requirements will be essential to avoid potential penalties and support sustainable growth in the digital asset industry.
